Mario Andretti won the 1969 Indy 500. Two days before time trials he crashed his bright red No. 2 STP Lotus into the wall of turn 4. He actually won in his back-up car, the Brawnier Hawk (the most famous back-up car at Indy.) His speed was 156.867 mph. and he drove for Andy Granatelli of STP fame. Andretti is one of only two drivers to have won races in Formula One, Indy Car, the World Sportscar Championship and Nascar. He has also won races in sprint car and midget racing. He considered the Hoosier Hundred the jewel of dirt track racing and won in 1966 and 1967.
